The opening of a “shop” on Easter Sunday is dependent on the size of the premises. Shops over 280 square metres must close on Easter Sunday.
For clarity, “shop” means any premises where there is a trade or business consisting wholly or mainly of the sale of goods. There are no exceptions for the Motortrade!
Where applicable, Trading Standards can prosecute and large fines can also be given to large shops which fail to close.
