On 1 May 2012 a Bill to suspend temporarily the Sunday Trading laws on opening hours received Royal Assent.  

This means that larger premises (relevant floor area more than 280 sq) which are currently restricted on opening hours will be able to open at any time on Sundays.  The de-restriction applies from 22 July to 9 September which is when the Paralympic Games end.

Retail workers will still maintain legal protection such as the right to opt out of Sunday Working.
