In a recent statement the OFT has said it is investigating a number of case where companies are deceiving consumers by charging for information which is free on government sites.
It found to be misleading criminal and civil action can be taken under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations. Examples already identified are those that charge to get consumers European Health Insurance Cards and booking driving theory tests.
