West Yorkshire business prosecuted for unacceptable working conditions

A Keighley lighting firm was prosecuted when a HSE inspection revealed appalling working conditions, and exposure of workers to defective equipment and welding fumes.

Some parts of the building were at just 4 degrees.  Toilets were in a disgusting state and were claimed to be a high disease risk for anyone using them.  There was ineffective protective equipment and fume extraction in the welding area.

The company were fined 8,000 and ordered to pay 20,000 in costs.
