What, more rights for consumers? Yes we are afraid so.
On 26 March 2015, the much talked about Consumer Rights Bill finally completed its long journey backwards and forwards through the Houses of Commons and Lords to metamorphose into the all singing and all dancing Consumer Rights Act 2015.
The new Act comes into force on 1 October 2015 and between now and then we will be wading our way through its 6 chapters and 10 schedules to bring you details of what is and what is not changing.
The good news is that, in theory, the Act has been designed to bring together the various pieces of consumer law in one easy to understand document. Of course the practicalities may not live up to the theoretical hype, especially as parts of older consumer legislation will still apply, but only time will tell.
