As debates around Brexit continue, a number of our clients are asking if there will be changes to employment law which could affect their business.
The current answer is probably.
However, we will not know more until the political Brexit discussions and negotiations get fully up and running. It is true that much of our current employment law emanates from the EU but that is not true of all recent law. For example, the Shared Parental Rights introduced last year were the design of our own previous coalition Government and in terms of holiday entitlement, us employees in the UK are entitled to 28 days per year (including Bank Holidays) whereas EU law only requires employers to give a minimum of 20 days.
Commentators are expecting changes to TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations) and this will help those of our clients who expand by buying other sites and businesses but for the moment, it is business as usual.
Lawgistics will of course keep you updated via these Legal Updates but in addition, do keep an eye out for a new employment product designed to not only keep you bang up to date with relevant changes in employment law but also to streamline and simplify the HR processes, leaving you more time and resources to get on with your core business and so increase your profit.
