We all know how time can fly by when you’re having fun. However, this can also be the case when you are disputing claims in court, although this will not be as fun.
The courts can be very picky when processes are not followed by either party, and in this regard, time is of the upmost importance. Of course, simple mistakes can be made and some may be out of your control, but it is crucial how you deal with those mistakes when they come to light.
Whether the court has made a mistake that impacts your case, or if the postman has lost your court paperwork, as soon as an issue arises, action is needed. This is usually by way of an application however, the action will be dependent on what is required by the court.
Equally, if the opposing party fails to follow orders, it may not be best to sit back and wait it out, especially with litigants in person, who will not be represented in court. They may not understand the court order or how to comply with them, and the court will not look fondly at those who take advantage of such.
If you do not follow through with court orders, attempting to sort issues that arise throughout the claim may cost you in the long run.
