As the Olympics draw ever closer, it is mindful for employers to consider how to deal with staff who wish to have time away from work to volunteer at the Olympics.
Whilst time off for such practices is not a legal right and further employees are not entitled to be paid for it, employees can either choose to take some of their annual holiday entitlement or take the time away unpaid.
Employers are urged to be flexible here and allow time off within the reasonable confides of your business needs.
