On the odd occasion, a member or potential member will query why we charge £297+VAT to manage a Small Claim (a claim under £10k) or a fixed 10% fee for claims in the Fast or Intermediate Track (values up to £100k).

Of course, no one is under an obligation to pay the fee, but for those who refuse, we increasingly find that they return later in the process having hit an obstacle that requires us to either undo a mistake they have made or to make an application for a deadline they have missed. Alternatively, they return very quickly after seeking advice from a high street solicitor and finding out the unsubsidised cost of good legal advice.

As an example, to deal with a Fast Track case for the refund of a £20,000 vehicle which goes all the way to a final hearing, our charge is £2000 (plus any court and/or barrister fees). For the same work to be undertaken by a high street solicitor, who is not likely to be a specialist in the motor trade, their charge under the current fixed cost rules will be £13,432 (plus any court and/or barrister fees).

Our Small Claim fee is likely to get you no more than two hours of work from a high street solicitor, while for £297+VAT, we will manage your case all the way to the final hearing.

Our subsidised fees are incredibly good value for money and, the real bonus is that we are not “doing it on the cheap.” We have the best legal team in the motor trade with a genuine 20-plus years of experience behind the company. I am, of course, biased. However, there is no one better than Lawgistics Ltd & Lawgistics Litigation to look after the legal side of your motor trade business.
