The law in relation to the employment of military reservists is due to change from 01 October 2014.
The Reserve Forces (payments to Employers and Partners) Regulations 2014, expands the remit for which employers can reclaim payment from the Ministry of Defence when a reservist is called for active duty.
Previously employers could reclaim up to £110.00 per day for the costs incurred in replacing a reservist. The new regulations allow for small and medium sized businesses to also claim a further sum of up to £500.00 per month in compensation for the loss of that employee during their service.
All claims should be made within 4 weeks of the period of service ending.
