You may or may not have noticed that we (and by we I mean myself and Director Joel), have been getting ready for our annual charity rally across Europe, Bangers for BEN. BEN the automotive charity supports people who work or have worked within our industry. Everything from debt advice and assistance with mental health issues, to care homes and support for those dealing with dementia.
This will be our fourth year on ‘bangers’ and it has become a cornerstone of our year. A great event supported by teams from all across the trade, the premise is simple, buy a vehicle for under £750, drive across Europe and back, sell the car at auction and give the proceeds to BEN along with your sponsorship money.

Aside from doing a good deed for charity, we have met some great people, some of whom answer the phone when we call them, some of whom don’t. But I’m sure everyone will agree they all have some amazing memories of past rallies. Be it following a Gulf replica with a fat exhaust across the German countryside at sunset. Standing at the top of the Furka pass with your best mate or hearing your cherry bomb exhaust as you overtake your convoy buddies through the tunnels of Switzerland, everyone who attends has memories like these and it’s all in the name of a great cause.
The BEN events team and the CarDealer crew haven’t failed to provide us with an event that I haven’t enjoyed yet. I love to drive and even though we are driving cars that are sub £750 we have only had to call on the expertise of the AA support team once, for a disconnected water pipe at the very top of the Stelvio.
