As with all Health and Safety issues the first stage in dealing with potential problems is to assess the risk and then have a system to manage it. 1. Note which outdoor areas are used by pedestrians. 2. Ensure there is a system in place so that you know when frost is predicted. At this time of year it will certainly be a feature late and early in the day. 3. Grit should be used where pedestrians and employees walk. It may be wise to cordon off certain paths to restrict waling to certain designated lines. This will make gritting easier. 4. Familiarity breeds contempt. Warning cones should only be used when there is a hazard and removed when not. |
